Edelstein was given birth on May 21, 1966 by her Jewish parents Alvin and Bonnie Edelstein in Boston, Massachusetts, USA.She was one of the three siblings and youngest that was raised in Wayne, New Jersey and attended 1984 in Wayne Valley High School.
When she finally turned eighteen years of age, began her professional acting career while studying theater at N.Y.U.'s Tisch School of the Arts. After performing in a wide range of productions off and on Broadway, as an authored and performed the AIDS-related musical "Positive Me" at Ellen Stuart's La Mama, in Manhattan. It was one of the earliest AIDS-related theater productions.
Lisa also had her first experience in television as a host of the cable series "Awake on the Wild Side" (1990). Due to this performances of Lisa, was given a big break that in the last more few years, she has been fearlessly taken on a wide variety of roles for television.
Some of this is a role of being a call-girl girlfriend on "The West Wing" (1999), David Conrad's sister on "Relativity" (1996), the transsexual boyfriend of James LeGros on "Ally McBeal" (1997) and an Orthodox Jewish woman on "Family Law" (1999).And also played as James Spader's love interest on "The Practice" (1997), and has had numerous other TV roles and guest appearances.
Hearing the news, her latest and current role is that of hospital administrator Dr. Lisa Cuddy, in the hit medical drama "House M.D." (2004) wherein the series follows the life of anti-social, pain killer addict, witty and arrogant medical doctor Gregory House with only half a muscle in his right leg. He and his team of medical doctors try to cure very ill ordinary people in the United States of America.
At present, Lisa resides in Los Angeles with her cat and three rescue dogs whom she wholeheartedly adored that made her a vegetarian.We must know also that Edelstein was avid practitioner of Mysore style Ashtanga Yoga.She frequently volunteers for the Best Friends Animal Society plus in her spare time she enjoys writing, painting and composing music whatever comes into her wild imaginations which always turned to be a great masterpiece.
